Christmas Shopping Spree

For over 40 years the Westchester Kiwanis Club of Bakersfield has provided a Christmas Shopping Spree including breakfastfor approximately 60 underprivileged children in ourcommunity. Many times these are the only Christmas gifts andcelebration the children will receive. The Club provides $150 foreach child to purchase gifts for their family and themselves.

Blood Donations

Westchester Kiwanis Club members and their families have participated in an ongoing year-round blood donation project formore than 25 years. Donations given under the Club’s name,through Houchin Community Blood Bank, are credited to anyperson in need of blood. Donations given by Westchester Kiwanistotal as much as 100 units per year.

Al & Margaret Dennis Scholarship

Al Dennis was a Charter member of Westchester Kiwanis and the Photography Teacher at Bakersfield High School for 37 years. Following his death in 1981, his wife Margaret and WestchesterKiwanis teamed together to ensure that a deserving Photographystudent at BHS would be given a $1,000 scholarship every year.

Take A Veteran to School

In 2014, Westchester Kiwanis Club teamed up with Granite Pointe Elementary School to help educate children at the 3rdgrade level about the many sacrifices made by those serving inthe military.
